Sarah Parish & James Murray kindly agreed to become Patrons of "Friends of PICU" following the admission of their new born daughter Ella-Jayne to PICU, with a heart condition in May 2008.

Since becoming Patrons, Sarah and James have been able to join us at our 1st Charity Ball, Christmas Bazaar and Childrens's Christmas Party and have been very generous in donating auction and raffle prizes to aid our fund-raising efforts.

Following the sad death of their daughter, they have set themselves a target of £100,000 to raise funds for a recruitment of a Psychologist who would support PICU for 3 years, after which the hospital trust would take on the funding for this new position. This is a much needed facility to support parents, siblings and families who like our Patrons have or have had a child in PICU.

The current total amount raised stands at £28,274.75.

In Febuary 2009, James and Sarah completed a two day sponsored trek through the Vietnamese hill tribes of the Sapa Valley raising £2,619.62.

The Step Uncles of Ella-Jayne completed the Paris Marathon in memory of Ella-Jayne on 5th April and to date (13th June) have raised £2503.42.
